Avila Production Presents began during the 2020 shutdown, when Alex Avila and his three-year-old son, Lex, faced an unexpected challenge. After Alex became seriously ill with COVID, Lex experienced a dramatic loss of speech and began working with speech professionals and therapists. Through sports, outdoor activities, and storytelling about the things Lex loved most, especially dinosaurs and volcanoes, his confidence and voice slowly began to return.
One day, Lex asked, “Can I write a book?” That question became the beginning of Lex’s Adventures. Since then, Lex has written four books, earned honor-roll recognition, competed as an All-Star athlete, explored clothing design, podcasting, filmmaking, and entrepreneurship, and is now working on his fifth book. Today, father and son are using their journey to help other families through literacy, creativity, real-world experiences, resources, media, and opportunities for young people to find and use their own voices.
